Jewellery Pouches

How can I repair a wooden jewelry box?

I recently bought a wooden jewelry box. The people at the store had put tape on it to keep the doors from falling out in transit. When I removed the tape, the top layer of the wood where the tape was attached came off. The flaw is huge and quite unattractive. What can I do to repair it or totally change the appearance? Thanks in advance. Thanks for the ideas so far yall. Unfortunately, returning is not an options. Sigh....

Public Comments

  1. covert it with unique decoration
  2. Return it for another one and bring a small box and crumpled newspaper to transport it.
  3. I agree with the other person who said to return it. Tell the sales people of their mistake to save them making it again. You can transport it on it's back, or you can use painter's tape on it.
  4. If you can't return it, paint it or add some self-adhesive felt. You really should return it, though.
  5. I hope you saved the thin pieces of wood that came off. If you did carefully glue them back on. I probably won't be an invisible repair, but could be made not too noticable.
